Travelwires.com undergoes a revamp

It’s been a while since the blog has received a new look layout and revised logo. Though still keeping the same colours. The revamp is mainly divided into three aspects:

Featured Posts
There are four weekly columns that make the blog, contributed by different bloggers. Currently such posts are posted on the top page for an entire day, after which new content replaces them, thus dropping down the page as new copy is published.

This new copy is mainly news worthy press releases from various companies. Since the weekly posts are premium content (as I pay the freelance bloggers), I’ve decided on ensuring they enjoy maximum exposure. Each weekly post will now be published on the feature post column for the entire week, up until a new copy is published the following week.

All press releases will now be published below the feature posts, with sticky options for top stories, ensuring it’s not dropped down the page.

Banners
The homepage has had numerous banners spread throughout the homepage. Will be relocating the current leader board banner next to logo, will not be above the logo. Will now do away with all banners currently located on the lower part of the homepage, since they derive low impressions and clicks. Will retain the current 250×250 square banner though to be moved to the far right. Will be adding a leader board banner below featured posts. Will still maintain the 336×280 banner within the detailed page of each story published. All banner spots can only handle two banners at any given time, rotating evenly.

Logo
The current logo, is also getting a boost, though still keeping the orange, black and while. The South African map, will be replace by a plane and the raise of the sun.
