The entrepreneurship game begins now for me
Am now officially unemployed, after having spent almost 9 years working for Moneyweb Holdings in various capacities. Am very grateful for the opportunity and training that Mr Alec Hogg afforded me within his company. All that grooming will come in handy on my route to self-employment.
Having resigned from Moneyweb to pursue my interest on internet business, am looking forward to the road ahead, though am aware that a lot of challenges I’ll have to overcome.
Over the years while still employed at Moneyweb, I managed to run a few (www.accommodate.co.za, www.bid2load.com and www.travelwires.com) websites on a part-time basis, while still doing my daily duties.
I’ve always dreamt of being my own boss from an early age, on joining Moneyweb, I made it a point that my dream never dies and took it upon myself that Moneyweb would be my last company I would be working for as an employee.
I must pay tribute to my late mother Dolly Mohale (may your soul rest in peace), who instilled the entrepreneurship tendencies in me while still growing up in Swaziland. She ensured that I learn to fend for myself at a very young age. I started selling popcorns and sweets at primary school, to raise pocket money and bus fares. And would bake scones and sell ice blocks during school holidays in a nearby furniture factory at Mobeni Flats (Matsapha) where I grew up.
Since am now without a salary, it all means that I need to seriously work on improving my current revenue streams in order to truly claim that am an internet entrepreneur.
I’ll be expanding my activities with new niche blogs and portals to help me achieve my goals.
For the first time in my life, I’ll now be exclusively focused on running my own business without a boss. As many would imagine, when most people are worried about keeping their day jobs, I’ve opted to quit mine, I guess we’re all different and our priorities are also different.
One important person in my life is my wife (I love you Lerato), who is still apprehensive about my decision, with your support my love, the road ahead will be easy for me to manage.
It is also vitally important that I make it work for us since we’re expecting our first born baby in a couple of months. So a regular income and parental responsibilities are all in the mix.
Am happy that I’ll be able to freely participate on our child’s upbringing, as I’ll have more time to contribute.
I’ll now be blogging daily about my business activities, so stay tuned.

Indeed I fully agree with you Calvin, its not an easy option for most people, however at one stage in your life you take risks. For me being my own boss is that ultimate risk I had to take than for me to always wish that one day, I’ll be what am currently not. It’s been too long a dream for me and its time to deliver.

Hi MUZI
Knowing you well as a friend and childhood neighbor I am very proud to recognized your business endeavors as a young entrepreneur. It is not an easy road to travel but knowing you well I know you have always got everything you wanted as a kid, because of your determination.
I remember when we were growing up as kids in Mobeni Flats (Swaziland)I would tease you about your school (St CHRISTOPHERS) not being the best as mine(Salesian High).Little did I know that we would one day grow up to be responsible adults. We were very naughty and we both were brought up by single mothers,so our upbringing really made us grow stronger and we became adults at an early age to help in the upbringing of our siblings.Well you forgot to mention that you sold (tintwane) ie chicken pieces. In my home we sold almost everything too..from ice blocks to beer.Sometimes that would create rivalry as we were very close neighbors, while i lived down stairs you were up on the first floor in the same block.
Hey Muzi do you Remember the chaos u used to cause with my brother every time you came for the schools holidays…No wonder they called you crush..As a guy with the sweetest tongue l would be called to mediate peace ..after you had beaten guys from the other neighborhoods for practically no apparent reason reason. I still miss those days..bro..but life as to go on.
Once again you can count on my support..and I believe in you, hoping that we will soon be working together.
PEACE!

Eita Pinto,
Indeed we were very naughty especially myself and your brother Nelson. Glad that we’ve outgrown all those troublesome habits. I guess Mobeni Flats made us what we’re today…
