Domestic workers exploitation
This is a shocking discovery for me and its my first and last time that I employ the services of a domestic worker agency…named ‘ Lizzies Maids’ in Roodepoort.
Have paid R195 for the general cleaning of my house, which is a once-off assignment. On enquiring with the foot soldier who is doing the real work, I’ve been disappointed to discover that she’ll be paid only R50 out of the R195, meaning the agency pockets R145 for not doing the dirty work.
It’s heartbreaking to know our people are exploited like this because they are desperate for an income and have no voice to represent their rights.
Am very much disappointed and not happy that I’ve been part of the exploitation.
